Bard MAT New York, NY Campus

Bard MAT New York, NY Campus

After a summer of graduate coursework on Bard’s main campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, MAT students who plan to teach in New York City will complete all their program requirements at Bard MAT Program’s New York City campus at International Community School in the South Bronx. Graduate students will work in high school classrooms with mentor teachers and their students in the morning or early afternoon, then take graduate courses later in the day that directly address the curriculum and other issues that emerge in their classroom settings.

In addition to continuing our work in developing and maintaining strong apprenticeships, the Bard MAT Program in NYC is also expanding to provide various professional development opportunities to teachers across the city for the 2011‐2012 school year.

For other teachers in our community, The MAT Program will be offering graduate courses for Bard credit for teachers, in Literature, History, and Mathematics; a monthly Networking Night for educators and NYC‐based organizations that work with teachers; writing workshops through the Institute for Writing & Thinking, curated to be applicable and relevant for NYC teachers and students; and access to cultural events through partner organizations throughout the city.
